Memorial Day Weekend

 - Saturday & Sunday - 12:00 - 4:00 PM

Opens Daily

 - June 23 - August 25, 2025 - 10:00 - 4:00 PM

September

 - Weekends only 10:00 - 4:00 PM.

 

All other times throughout the year, the museum is open only by advance appointment.

Admission to the museum is $5 per person

  • How long will I spend in the museum?
    The amount of time one can spend in the museum will vary on person by person, however generally speaking most people will spend between 1.5 - 2 hours seeing all the exhibits. In addition, to enhance your visit, we offer challenging Scavenger Hunts for both children and adults.
  • Are food and drinks allowed in the museum?
    Generally speaking, we discourage any food in the museum. However, given the hot summer days, we will allow drinks (non-alcoholic) in the museum provided they are in closed containers. We want to ensure the museum artifacts are always protected from spills of any kind.
  • Are service animals allowed in the museum?
    We do allow service animals only. The animal must have the proper documentation in order to be allowed entrance.
  • Is parking available at the museum?
    There is a small parking lot behind the museum with an entrance from Beach Street. Otherwise, street parking is always available and free to all visitors.
  • Is the museum accessible?
    We offer handicap parking on the side of the museum on Beach Street and we do have an elevator if needed.
  • Are there restrooms in the museum?
    The museum does have one unisex and handicap accessible bathroom for our visitors.
  • What is the recommended age for visiting the museum?
    From 1 -100 years! Practically speaking, most children will begin to enjoy the museum when they are at least preschool age. We also have Scavenger Hunts to enhance both the children and adult experiences!
  • Can I take pictures in the museum?
    Yes, pictures to remember your visit to the museum is allowed. We do, however discourage use of pictures of the artifacts in the museum for any professional or social use.
  • Do you offer private tours of the museum?
    Yes, private tours are an excellent way to enjoy the museum and learn the history of the island. Private tours require advance reservations of at least 2 weeks so we can be sure to accommodate your needs. Visit our Book an Event page to learn more.
