Become a Volunteer
And become a part of our island's history!

Volunteers are the backbone of our Museum!
Would you like to help our museum realize its mission of promoting Long Beach Island history, maybe develop a new skill or use your existing talents?
The LBI Historical Museum is looking for energetic and committed volunteers to help create an outstanding visitor experience or provide much-needed behind-the-scenes support.
Volunteers learn new skills, work with motivated people who share common interests, and help visitors of all ages connect with the past. No history degree or experience needed, you can learn as you go. If you are interested in history and want to share your enthusiasm and talents, we encourage you to apply to volunteer.
Our Volunteer Opportunties

Behind the Scenes
Prefer to Work Behind the Scenes?
There are many ways to support the Museum! We welcome volunteers with interests and skills in social media, website design, finance, office administration, fundraising, membership and sponsorship, event support, and more.
Whether you have a few hours or want to take on a larger role, we’d love to put your talents to work!
Collections / Archives
Volunteers in the collections department have the opportunity to assist with the inventory, processing, and cataloging of documents, photographs, and objects in a hands-on work environment. Common tasks include cataloging artifacts, data entry, basic photography, organizing records, research and writing, and other specialized duties.
